I'm always on the lookout for a great watercolor set. I have a few sets, but I tend to use certain colors more than others (pink, turquoise, purple) and then need a new set because I've used up all the best colors. I should probably expand my color horizons, but what can I say, I like what I like.
In my search for new watercolors, I found this Prima Watercolor Confections set. I chose the Tropicals set because it has all the BEST colors. (insert emoji with heart eyes here) I have to say... I'm LOVING it!
What do I like so much about this set you ask? Well, let me tell you.
It's SO portable! The paints come in a travel-size tin that's about 2 3/4" x 4 3/4". You can easily fit it in your purse!
A card is included so you can have a swatch of all the colors, which is great because you can't tell what the color is just by looking at the paint pans. The number on the card coordinates with the number of the paint.
The paints are highly pigmented and, oh my GOSH, the color is vibrant and amazing! A little goes a long way for sure!
There are two paint mixing areas, one is the underside of the lid (under my color swatch card) and the other folds down to uncover the paints. Cool beans!
The paint pans are little but like I said earlier, a little goes a long way, so it will take a while to go through each color.
I numbered the back of each pan with a Sharpie according to Prima's numbering system.
That way I know which pan goes with which watercolor swatch. Plus, the number helps when I need to re-order individual colors as I use them up.
Wait a second, what? You can order individual colors as you use them up??? I know, right!?! FINALLY! Do you know how many watercolor sets I have that now only contain colors I've never touched but don't want to get rid of because I may want to use those colors someday? A lot!
Another cool feature is the ring on the back. It's great for hooking your finger into while you hold the set and paint. Handy!
I've been using this set with a waterbrush a lot lately to create some fun lettering and art. These have definitely become my goto tools.
On a side note, at the beginning of each month, I plan on lettering my word for the year to keep it at the forefront of my mind. So yeah, you'll be seeing REFRESH at least 10 more times this year.
Do you have any favorite art supplies I should try out? Let me know in the comments!
P.S. I am in no way affiliated with Prima or Scrapbook.com, I'm just sharing this watercolor set with you because I think you'll love it too.
